Advertising & Affiliate Disclosure

Australia Current is owned and operated by Pacific Sentinel Digital Pty Ltd, a New South Wales company (ACN 634 102 887), with its registered office at Level 14, 1 Martin Place, Sydney NSW 2000. Full details of our ownership and funding model are available on our Ownership & Funding page. Daniel Harper, our Editor-in-Chief, holds final responsibility for all editorial decisions and standards.

How is Australia Current funded?

Australia Current is funded through a mix of display advertising, affiliate links, commercial partnerships, sponsored content, newsletter sponsorships and content licensing. This diversified approach allows us to keep our journalism freely accessible to all readers while maintaining the editorial independence that our audience expects. None of these revenue streams influence or determine our editorial conclusions or news judgment.

All sponsored or commercial material published on the site is clearly labelled as such so that readers can distinguish it from editorial content. Our Sponsored Content Policy sets out the specific rules governing these arrangements, including the requirement that sponsors have no editorial control over the content we produce.

What are affiliate links and how are they disclosed?

Affiliate links are clickable links to third-party products or services for which Australia Current may receive a small commission if a reader makes a purchase. These links are always clearly disclosed within the article or at the point of use, typically with a note such as “This article contains affiliate links. We may earn a commission if you purchase through these links, at no extra cost to you.” Affiliate relationships never affect which products we cover, how we review them, or the conclusions we reach.

Sophie Campbell, our Business & Economy Correspondent, ensures that any commercial considerations are kept separate from editorial work in our business and economy coverage. The Standards & Fact-Checking team, led by Thomas Walsh, periodically audits affiliate disclosures to confirm compliance with our policies.

What is display advertising and how is it managed?

Display advertising refers to graphical advertisements placed on our website by advertisers or advertising networks. These ads are clearly distinguished from editorial content and are served through programmatic systems or direct sales. Australia Current retains full control over the types of advertisements we accept, and we reserve the right to reject any ad that conflicts with our editorial values or deceives our audience.

Advertising and partnership enquiries can be directed to advertising@australiacurrent.net or partnerships@australiacurrent.net. Our commercial team handles these relationships independently of the newsroom, as described in our Editorial Policy.

How does Australia Current maintain editorial independence?

Editorial independence is a core principle of Australia Current. No advertiser, sponsor, partner or commercial entity has any influence over the selection, reporting or presentation of news, analysis or opinion articles. Our Editorial Policy, written by Daniel Harper and overseen by our Standards & Fact-Checking Lead Thomas Walsh, explicitly prevents commercial considerations from dictating editorial conclusions.

Every article is drafted by a named writer, reviewed by an editor, and fact-checked before publication. The editorial team—including Emma Nguyen as Managing Editor and Liam O’Brien as Politics & Public Affairs Editor—operates independently from the commercial side of the business. This structural separation is reinforced by our Fact-Checking Policy, which ensures that all claims made in our reporting are independently verified.

What rules apply to sponsored or commercial content?

Any content that is sponsored, paid for, or commercially influenced is clearly labelled at the top of the page—typically with a tag such as “Sponsored,” “Partner Content,” or “Advertising Feature.” Such material is produced under guidelines set out in our Sponsored Content Policy, which requires that it be distinguishable from editorial work and that it does not mislead readers about its nature.

Charlotte Singh, our Culture & Society Editor, reviews any sponsored content that appears in the culture or lifestyle sections to confirm it meets these labelling requirements. Commercial partnerships are managed by a separate team and never involve the newsroom in content approval or production decisions.

How are corrections and complaints handled?

If a reader identifies an error in an article that involves advertising, affiliate links or commercial content, they can contact our corrections team at corrections@australiacurrent.net or our complaints team at complaints@australiacurrent.net. Thomas Walsh leads the Standards & Fact-Checking team, which investigates all such reports and issues corrections promptly where warranted.

Our Corrections Policy and Complaints Procedure outline the steps we take to address concerns. For matters involving advertising-specific concerns, readers may also contact advertising@australiacurrent.net.
